Working remotely is becoming more and more popular by the day. How often do you find yourself working from home for a couple of hours – or having dedicated days when you don’t even go into the office? The chances are there are a few.
As such, you need a suitable space where you can get down to business and distractions are limited. Why should this be in the home? Instead, Millhouse Landscapes recommend going outside and installing a home office in your very own garden. And there are plenty of excellent reasons to do just that.
Separate yourself from the home
Home is home and work is work. Sometimes the boundaries do get merged though and there’s every chance you spend much of your so-called ‘free’ time checking emails, writing up a report or even liaising with clients. Don’t do this in your home though. Instead, separate the two and actually ‘travel’ to work – be it only 30 seconds away. This will put you in a better frame of mind for the working day ahead.
Eliminate distractions
Those who work from home, frequently say they’re always being distracted – whether it’s the kids charging around, the temptation to flick on the TV, or even the compulsion to do a couple of menial household chores. An outside office space eliminates these distractions and above all, everyone else in the home knows you’re working – and not to come knocking.
Be connected to the garden
Why wouldn’t you want to be connected to the garden? If it’s a lovely afternoon, you’ll be able to pull up a chair and take a few minutes rest in the sunshine (or even bring your laptop outside for a few hours). Being next to your garden also provides beautiful scenery and by opening a window you’ll have the cool, fresh air you need to keep a level head.
A multipurpose outfit
If you invest in a home office, it doesn’t have to be just this. Even at the weekends you could find yourself in there – sipping a glass of Pinot or reading your favourite book. You could even fit some sofas, a TV and possibly a darts board (because everyone needs a little rest bite from their work). Plus, if you later don’t have the need to work from home, you’ll have a fantastic space to make use of.
